An Open Letter To: Michael Snyder, Asst. Dir., Public Affairs, Worldwide Church of God

Watchman Fellowship appreciates the spirit of cooperation exhibited by both you and your office. We are also appreciative of the summary of recent church doctrinal changes.

You have informed us that the article "Who was Jesus Father?" found in the Good News (Nov.\Dec. 1990) is no longer the policy of the Worldwide Church of God. That: "This article has been declared `officially obsolete' by the Church," (letter 15 November 1990, p. 1).

It is regretful that this was published in the last ever issue of the Good New magazine, and it will therefore be impossible for the Worldwide Church of God to print a public retraction for this erroneous doctrine.

Of course it would be nice to see a retraction in the Plain Truth magazine on this subject.

Watchman Fellowship would be interested in a clarification of the side bar article "Is The Holy Spirit A Person?" published in the same issue of the Good News.

It has always been the public position of the Worldwide Church of God that the Holy Spirit is the power of God and not a person; which is the same doctrine taught by the Jehovah's Witnesses.

While the recent material you and your office have sent to our office is greatly appreciated and has helped to clarify some of the recent changes, there does not appear to be any substantial doctrinal shift in the area of the Holy Spirit.

Because Watchman Fellowship plans to commit an entire issue of the Watchman Expositor to the theology and history of the Worldwide Church of God in the near future, any help your staff could provide in rectifying "old doctrine" with the "new doctrine" would be most appreciated.
