Why Are You Witnessing?
Collen Ralson
Why are you witnessing? Be sure your motives are correct. If it is not truly out of love, it will show - they will know.
If you do not know something, be honest and tell them you will find out.
Try first to get them to say how long they can stay. Otherwise, they will leave as soon as they get in a bind.
Never "Bible bash" with them. It does not win them it only alienates them.
Educate yourself to their teachings as well as your own Christian doctrines.
Stay on one topic. Do not let them tap dance you from one topic to another.
Scripture should be read in full context from a reliable translation.
If the Holy Spirit is not dealing with this person you should not stubbornly persist.
Never just tell them what they believe. Share with them what their group teaches with documentation.
Give your testimony in clear terms that they can understand. Stress your relationship with Christ.
Try to leave the door open for further discussions by you or another Christian.
Invite them to read a tract with the plan of salvation clearly stated.
Pray without ceasing for this person who has been deceived. Pray before, during, and after the encounter.
Stress the assurance you have of your salvation that they do not have. Read I John 1:15 to them.
