Letters to the Editor

Greetings in the name of the most high JAH RASTAFARI:

You may try to hide the truth from the people but they will find out.  In the days to come when more people turn to JAH for their redemption [sic].  Your people will want to know the truth.  Maybe you should do another study in order to present it to them.  We the Rasta have Archangel Michael guiding us in our mission to regain the Earth from the evil forces now in control.  You should prepare to meet him when he comes because he is the one know [sic] as Yeshua the Christ.  Read Dan ver 12 maybe we forced that to conform with to our doctrine.

Peace &Love

Ras Yohaness Kagnew

Enjoyed your site despite it's obvious 'tunel vision'. Although I found many misleading statements which lessens the sites effectiveness, I was particularly annoyed with your remarks on Krishnamurti. I realize it must be hard to put down the truth unless you state false statements in reference to him. He has nothing to do with the 'Theosophists' regardless of what they say (Listen to what he says, and then see the truth for yourself!). He has had nothing to do with them since 1929!, [sic] other than treat them like human beings with love and compassion [sic] something you so-called Christians often overlook.

Editor's Response: This letter is a strong example of several of the problems Christians will encounter in witnessing to members of alternative religions. First, the writer describes the authors of our annual Index of Cults and Religions as "so-called Christians," when the writer is quite openly not a Christian. Christians must be prepared to encounter others who attempt to define "true" Christianity, even when the other person is not a Christian.

Second, because many alternative religions are very fluid in their structure and syncretistic in their beliefs, members will denounce members of other groups for co-opting the former's beliefs or leaders. In this case, the follower of Krishnamurti attacks the Theosophists for claiming Krishnamurti as one of their own. This example shows the doctrinal and institutional instability faced by members of new religious groups.

Third, the writer claims that the definitions in the Index of Cults and Religions are lies because they conflict with the writer's beliefs. Christians should be prepared to be attacked for pointing out inconsistent beliefs. Christians should also realize that, because many alternative religious groups are highly syncretistic, it is entirely possible that individual members will hold beliefs that deviate from the mainstream of that group.

Thank you, I look forward to receiving your magazine and supporting it as well as my 3 main goals are the same as yours.

God bless you and keep allowing Him to use you mightly in furthering His Great Commission.

What you present is a completely capitolistic representation of everything thats [sic] wrong with america [sic], ignorance is ignorance it does not matter what the reason is[sic], you could at least list some pro-alternative religious information, because naive parents will come here, read this [euphemism deleted], make their kid stop wearing T-shirts, pull down his posters, take away his role play [sic] games and possibly computer gamers, and otherwise infringe on their young adults. I cant [sic] believe this, its [sic] sick, and its [sick] wrong.

Editor's Note: The writer is apparently responding to Youth and the Occult [Vol. 15, No. 6, 1998], in which Watchman staff note the dangers in some fantasy role-playing games and in such occult-based television programs as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Watchman Fellowship does not forbid computer games or teen-oriented clothing: we do, however, encourage discernment and responsibility when choosing entertainment and attire.

To Whom It May Concern

I was invited up here via Email.

I found this site very interesting and I think, fair. It is good that so much information is available for people to read. I am sadden [sic] however, by how few take time to seek out these things.

My views are not standard as most consider Christianity. For I look into the deep spiritual side of God. For God is Spirit. There is just to [sic] much religion today.

Bless you all for your work here. May God continue to give you that which is needed.

[Expletives deleted, but punctuation added] you are all racist pigs who should all die.
