First Presidency Statement

Here is the First Presidency statement issued in response to the Los Angeles Times article:

"We have read the story which appeared in the May 18, 1998, Los Angeles Times, and are surprised at its contents. The matter it speaks of has not been discussed by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Since the 1978 revelation granting the priesthood to all worthy males, millions of people of all races have embraced the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and are enjoying full blessings of membership in the Church.
