Tim Martin has more than 20-years experience in the field of Christian counter-cult evangelism, apologetics, and discernment. He speaks in numerous churches, college campuses and conferences throughout the United States on the subject of Christian discernment and evangelism. Because of his unique ministry expertise, he has been interviewed several times on radio, television and in newspaper articles.
Education
Mr. Martin holds a MA in Theology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois and a BA in Theology from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He is an adjunct instructor at Moody Bible Institute, and holds ministerial credentials through the Evangelical Free Church of America. Tim is also a member of Evangelical Ministries to New Religions.
Background
Mr. Martin was born in a Mormon dominated area in Southeast Idaho. Although never a Mormon himself, his family roots in the Mormon church date back to 1844. At the age of 20, God saved him after attending a local independent church. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Air Force and left Idaho. Tim quickly developed a strong desire to minister to the Mormons due to his family ties and background in Mormonism. He studied books on evangelism, completed primary research on the Mormon faith, and made every attempt to find Mormons to minister to. In 1992, Tim met a co-laborer with a passion for the Mormons, Michele Romeo. They were married in 1994.
Experience
Upon leaving the Military in 1990, Mr. Martin moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to begin ministering to Mormons. He quickly became associated with Watchman Fellowship's Utah office. Watchman Fellowship is a nonprofit educational organization headquartered in Arlington, Texas, with additional offices around the country and overseas. Watchman Fellowship is an apologetics and discernment ministry that provides research and evaluation on cults, the occult, and new religious movements from a traditional Christian perspective.
As he was laboring in Utah with the Mormons, he began venturing into other religious groups such as the Jehovah's Witnesses. As his zeal for learning God's Word, and evangelizing those in false religions grew, he began holding classes in various churches on evangelism and other Bible subjects.
In 1995, Mr. Martin moved to Chicago, Illinois where he was the director of the Illinois office. He and his family now live in Lititz, PA, and he is the Associate Director for the state of Pennsylvania. His ministry includes personal witnessing, corresponding, evangelism training, street preaching and consultation. Tim has spoken in many churches, conferences, and college campuses teaching Christians about cult evangelism. He has taught several ongoing Sunday School classes in apologetics, cults and evangelism. In addition, he has been interviewed on the radio, newspaper, and a TV news program because of his ministry to the cults. Tim's zeal for evangelism motivates him to travel to cult events, particularly summer outreach opportunities in Utah and Idaho.
