Ron Carter
Research
Associate
Ron was born in 1963, and raised in the historic
Tuskegee, Alabama where he graduated from Tuskegee
Institute High School in 1982. Ron received his Associate
of Science degree in 1984 from Central Alabama Community
College, previously known as Alexander City State Junior
College, and his Bachelor's in Social Science from the
University of Montevallo in 1987.
While in college Ron met the former
Darlene Jennings and they were married in 1989. They have
one child, Alexandria, born in 1994.
After receiving his degree, Ron completed the management
training program at Herman's World of Sporting Goods
where he worked in management for three years. After
working several other sales jobs, Ron brought his people
skills to the Children's Aid Society, where he served as
program Coordinator and Out Reach Worker for the
"Project Dads Program." In addition to his
ministry with Watchman Fellowship, Ron serves as
Principal for Restoration Academy, a Christ-centered
school serving the inner-city.
In 1988, Ron had a "Damascus Road" encounter
with the Lord that radically changed his life. He
immediately sensed the Lord was calling him into the
ministry. Shortly after this, a co-worker invited Ron to
his church. This turned out to be a Word-Faith Church and
Ron, as a new believer, did not realize he should have
any concerns over the heretical doctrines of Word-Faith
teachers. This began a seven year involvement, for Ron,
in the Word-Faith Movement. During that time, Ron
continued to sense the Lord calling him to the ministry
and began sharpening his leadership abilities as he
served in various ministry capacities, including his
being:
.........................*
Ordained as a Deacon in 1991.
.........................*
An Adult Sunday School Teacher during 1989-1995.
.........................*
The Assistant Sunday School Superintendent.
.........................*
Ordained and licensed as Minister in 1993.
Though Ron was in the wrong church, the Lord used this
time to prepare him for a purpose he had not yet
realized. As Ron grew in his relationship with the Lord,
and began an honest examination of the Word-Faith
teaching, he knew he could no longer be a part of this
Church and in 1995 he renounced his association with this
teaching.
Ron and his family are now active members at Doers of the
Word Church. He currently ministers there as an Elder and
Adult Sunday School Teacher.
Having been in the Word-Faith Movement, Ron has a special
understanding and burden for those deceived by
spiritually wounding doctrines and finds the Lord is now
enlarging his ministry. Truly, "God works all things
together for good for those who love Him and are called
according to his purpose."
Ron's knowledge, abilities, communication skills, and the
calling upon his life are a great asset and Watchman
Fellowship is proud to have him on staff. He brings a
unique perspective to this ministry, particularly in
addressing those cults that are encroaching upon the
African-American Community.
